As a Certified Professional Midwife and a Licensed Midwife in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I bear witness to the profound, sacred, and transformative moments within the childbearing year of a person’s life. Pregnancy and birth are normal physiological events and in my care, are treated as such. I emphasize evidence-based care that addresses the unique physical, emotional, and social needs of each client, and prioritize individualized care through autonomy, informed consent, and shared decision making.
As a doula in 2014, inspired by the quality and drawn to the thoroughness of care provided by midwives, I realized that midwifery was the next step in my journey. Through my Bachelors of Science in Midwifery (BSM) from Midwives College of Utah, I spent six years apprenticing with eight amazing midwives in homebirth and birth center practices.
As I began navigating my path to midwifery, my grandfather informed me that our family had a history of midwifery. Lena Appert, my great-great grandmother, was a midwife who welcomed thousands of babies in the Twin Cities and in the St. Cloud area in the early 1900's. I cherish the stories of Lena’s legacy and hope her spirit and wisdom continue to uplift me as I navigate my own path as a midwife.
Outside of my birth work, I enjoy spending time with my children (both of whom were born outside of the hospital), tending to my gardens, experimenting in my kitchen, exploring local restaurants, and seeing as much live music as possible.

My philosophy towards birth and reproductive health care is rooted in autonomy and holistic well-being. My path to becoming a CPM started when my own autonomy and reproductive rights were challenged within the medical system. From this experience, I was determined to find a provider who would listen to me, trust my ability to make decisions and provide resources to support me in achieving my health goals. It wasn't until I met a midwife, that I found just that. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to help advocate for this kind of compassionate health care.
Since then, I have worked as a doula, birth assistant, and now as a midwife. I have been attending births since 2016, and graduated from a MEAC accredited school, Birthwise, in 2021, and have been practicing as a licensed midwife since. I am currently licensed in the state of Minnesota.
In addition to midwifery, I have learned from functional medicine providers, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, and herbalists. This has provided me with a decade of experience in guiding others on holistic lifestyles, reduction of environmental exposures, and botanical medicine. I am passionate about creating opportunities for others to access this kind of knowledge. In a visit with me, I hope to bring compassionate conversations, space for you and me to develop a trusting relationship, evidence-based care, and some laughter.
When I am not a midwife, I can be found outside with my son, foraging wild plants, dancing in the kitchen, and laughing with family.

My journey into the world of birth began during my studies in herbal medicine at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, where the teachings of Dr. Aviva Romm, Rosemary Gladstar, and Susan Weed profoundly inspired me. After earning my certificate in herbal medicine in 2015, I attended my first birth, igniting my passion for supporting families in the birth space.
I graduated from St. Catherine University with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science, focusing my studies on the childbearing years and the intersection of social justice and ethics in healthcare. My innate drive to serve others is complemented by my background in yoga; I earned a 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2012 and have since led classes throughout the Twin Cities. For me, yoga is a powerful tool for birthing people, fostering a deeper connection to their bodies and inviting both courage and vulnerability into the experience of birth.
In early 2020, I began my full-spectrum birth work training through Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings, embracing a socially conscious and culturally sensitive approach to support. I believe in the fundamental right of all individuals to make informed choices about their healthcare, viewing birth as a radical act where I serve as a guardian and space holder for the birthing person.
By the end of 2020, I enrolled at Midwives College of Utah to pursue my second bachelor’s degree in midwifery, honing my skills under the mentorship of experienced midwives at Willow Birth Center. I completed my studies in late 2023 and am now a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), eager to continue my lifelong journey of learning and growth in the field of midwifery
